PART - A


1. What was the complaint of Dev Datt against prince Siddharth?

Ans: The complaint was that Siddharth had taken the Swan which he had shot down.

 

2. Why did Siddharth claim that the swan was his?

Ans: Siddharth saved the life of the swan so Siddharth claimed that the swan was his.

 

3. How did the bird react to Dev Datt’s call?

Ans: Dev Datt called the bird but the swan trembled and cried with fear.

 

4. What did Siddharth say to the swan? What did the bird do?

Ans: Siddharth asked the bird to come and sit on his arm and said not to be afraid. Suddenly the swan flied onto the Siddharth’s arms.


6. How did each of them defend their actions?

Ans: Dev Datt defended that he shot the bird so it belongs to him. Siddharth defended that he saved the life of the Swan so it belongs to him.


7. How did the Chief Minister resolve the dispute at the end?

Ans: The Chief Minister asked the princes to put swan on the stool and asked them to approach the bird one by one and ask it to come to them. Dev Datt called the bird but the swan trembled and cried with fear. Siddharth asked the bird to come and sit on his arm and said not to be afraid. Suddenly the swan flied onto the Siddharth’s arms. Thus the Chief Minister resolved dispute.
