 POEM 4 - FOR A FIVE YEAR OLD - 2MARKS


1. What cannot a machine do? [stanza 4]

Ans: A machine cannot built comprehend a lie it can’t know love or pity ot forgive. It can’t know man’s feelings.


2. What is the risk, if the machine is mishandled? [stanza 4]

Ans: If machine is mishandled man make a slip in handling them die.


3. How are machines and human beings different? Study the last stanza and write.

Ans: The machines different from human beings man understand lie and he can know to love, pity, forgive. Man is the like father of the Machines. But Machines don’t understand the lie; they cannot know neither love nor pity nor forgive. They only make what we teach or what we feed to it. It’s like a servant of man.


4. Do you observe any rhyme scheme in each stanza? If you do, write the words that rhyme together.

e.g. ask – task, play – day [second stanza]

Ans: Mine – design, pit – fit, drive – dive, light – write, live – forgive, lie – die, eyes – seize, again – brain.

Ans: push, lift, drive, plough, weave, run, swim, fly, dive 


4. Note how the words like ‘and’ are used in the poem. Also, identify other words and phrases that are repeated. What is the effect of such repetition?

Ans: Word ‘and’ used as ‘conjunction’ in the poem. ‘And’ combine two same kind of noun and noun, adjectives and adjective, adverb and adverb and so on in the poem.
