The Clever Rabbit
Once there lived a lion in a forest. He was the king of the forest. He was very cruel. He killed many more animals than he could eat. The forest animals called a meeting. They under a big tree. They talked of their cruel king. But they didn’t know what to do.
One day they took courage and went to the lion together. They said to the lion, ”O king of the forest ! Please listen to our prayer. You kill many animals daily. Soon there will be no animals left in the forest. Then you will have nothing to eat. We request you not to kill animals. We promise to send you one animal for your food daily”. The lion agreed to it
The animals kept their promise. Every morning the got one animal to eat. It went on for some days.
One day it was the turn of the rabbit, he roared,” Why are you so late ?”
“My lord ! Said the rabbit, “ I met another lion on the way. He called himself the king of
The forest. He wanted to eat me.”
The lion roared, “Where is that lion? Show me. I will kill him.”
The rabbit took the lion to a deep well. The lion looked into the will. He saw his own reflection in the water. He roared loudly. The foolish lion at once jumped into the well.
The clever rabbit came back. He told the story to the others animals. The animals were very happy.
